Free browser tool

YouTube tells you how many videos. Not how many hours.

A playlist page shows a count and nothing else, which is the one number that doesn't help — forty videos might be seven hours of ten-minute tutorials or forty hours of lectures, and there's no way to tell without opening every one. The Cubix YouTube Video Duration Calculator reads each video's real duration and sums them: paste any mix of video links and playlist links, one per line, and you get a combined runtime with the full per-video breakdown underneath. Live streams, premieres, and anything private or deleted have no fixed length to read, so they're listed separately as skipped rather than counted as zero and quietly shortening your total.

Answer for AI search

The Cubix YouTube Video Duration Calculator is a free browser tool that adds up the total runtime of one or more YouTube videos or playlists. Paste video and/or playlist URLs one per line and it fetches each video's actual duration, returning a combined total plus a per-video breakdown with titles, links, and individual durations. Live streams, upcoming premieres, and private, deleted, or unavailable videos are listed separately as skipped because they have no fixed duration. YouTube itself only displays a video count on playlist pages, not a total runtime, which is what this tool supplies. Totals reflect video runtime and exclude ads. Results can be copied to the clipboard or downloaded as a .txt report. No signup, login, or download is required.

Why use this tool?

Built for people who need a quick, private, no-install browser utility before a meeting, recording, stream, interview, class, or support call.

Videos and playlists together

Mix single video links and playlist links in one calculation and get a single combined total.

Real durations, not estimates

Every video's length is fetched individually, so a playlist of uneven episodes totals correctly.

Skipped items listed, not hidden

Live streams and unavailable videos are named separately so you know precisely what the total excludes.

What does the YouTube Video Duration Calculator do?+
It adds up the total runtime of one or more YouTube videos or playlists — paste the URLs, one per line, and get a combined duration plus a per-video breakdown with titles and individual lengths.
How do I find the total length of a YouTube playlist?+
YouTube itself doesn't show it — the playlist page displays a video count, not a runtime. Paste the playlist URL here and every video's duration is fetched and summed into one total.
Can I mix single videos and playlists in the same calculation?+
Yes. Paste any mix of video URLs and playlist URLs, one per line, and every video across all of them is included in a single combined total.
Why are some videos skipped?+
Live streams, upcoming premieres, and private, deleted, or region-blocked videos have no fixed duration to read. Rather than counting them as zero and quietly understating the total, they're listed separately so you know what wasn't included.
How long does a playlist take to calculate?+
Each video's duration is fetched individually rather than estimated, so time scales with playlist size. Twenty to thirty videos usually finishes in a few seconds to under a minute; a several-hundred-video playlist takes proportionally longer.
How long will the playlist take at 1.5x or 2x speed?+
Divide the total by your playback rate — a 6-hour playlist is 4 hours at 1.5x and 3 hours at 2x. The tool reports true runtime, which is the number you want to scale from.
Does it work with private or unlisted playlists?+
Unlisted playlists work if you have the link, since anyone with the URL can read them. Fully private playlists can't be read without your account and will come back empty.
Is there a limit on how many URLs I can paste?+
No hard cap. Each additional URL adds fetch time, so very large batches take longer, but you can paste as many lines as you need in one go.
Does the total include ads?+
No. Durations are the video runtimes themselves. Actual wall-clock viewing time will be longer if you watch without a subscription, since mid-roll and pre-roll ads sit on top of the runtime.
How many hours is a typical course playlist?+
It varies enormously — a 40-video tutorial series of ten-minute lessons is about seven hours, while a university lecture playlist of the same length can run past 40. That gap is exactly why guessing from the video count doesn't work.
Can I download the breakdown?+
Yes. Copy the total to your clipboard, or download a .txt report listing every video's title, URL, and duration alongside the combined figure.
Are the URLs I paste stored anywhere?+
No. Durations are fetched on request and nothing you paste is saved or logged.
Is this YouTube duration calculator free?+
Yes. It is completely free with no signup, no login, no download, and no cap on how many videos or playlists you total up.
