Screen Studio's terms state that fees are non-refundable. There is no advertised money-back window, and no "cancel within 30 days" clause of the kind most subscription software leads with.

That single fact changes the shape of the purchase decision, and it interacts with the billing choice in a way that is easy to get wrong. Here is what it means in practice, what cancelling actually does, and how to bound your downside before you pay rather than after.

Cancelling Is Not a Refund

These get conflated constantly, and the difference is the whole issue.

Annual billing saves $132 over twelve months, which is a genuine saving and the correct choice if you are confident. But under a non-refundable policy, it also converts a $20 mistake into a $108 one.

The sensible sequence is monthly first. Take one month at $20, use it on real work under real deadlines, and switch to annual at renewal once you know. You pay roughly $11 more than you would have on the annual plan for that first month, and in exchange your maximum loss drops from $108 to $20. If you are still using it happily after four weeks, the annual plan is straightforwardly the better deal from there.

The exception is if you have already run the trial thoroughly on your own footage. In that case you have effectively done the evaluation and annual is reasonable immediately.

Try to blur something sensitive. Record a screen with an API key or a customer email visible and work out what your process is. Discovering that after purchase is a workflow problem you paid for.

On Chargebacks
