Free Subtitle Time Shifter

Fix out-of-sync subtitles by moving every cue in an SRT or WebVTT file by the same offset — earlier or later.

Free, no signup. Only timestamps change; text, numbering and formatting stay exactly as they were.

Choose a subtitle file to see original and shifted timestamps.

This rewrites the subtitle file's timestamps only. It does not change audio/video synchronization inside a video file. Cue text, numbering, identifiers, VTT settings, comments, encoding and line endings are kept exactly as they were.

How to move subtitles earlier or later

  1. Upload an SRT or VTT file and enter an offset in milliseconds or seconds. Positive moves cues later; negative moves them earlier.
  2. Compare original and shifted timestamps. An offset that creates negative timestamps is rejected unless you explicitly revise the whole-file offset to start the earliest cue at zero.
  3. Download the shifted file and check an early and a late cue against your video.

One offset fixes a constant subtitle delay. Subtitles that gradually drift out of sync need timing/source review. This tool does not change the video's audio or embedded subtitles.

Input is sent to Cubix's server for processing. The input limit is 2 MiB. Use sample data when trying the tool.

🎯

One Exact Offset

Every cue moves by the same amount, so spacing between cues never changes. Nothing is clamped, dropped, or renumbered.

🔒

Byte-for-Byte Safe

Cue text, identifiers, VTT settings, comments, encoding, BOM, and line endings are preserved exactly.

✔️

Verified

The shifted file is re-parsed and compared with the original before you can download it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which way does the offset move subtitles?

A positive offset moves subtitles later; a negative offset moves them earlier. You can enter milliseconds (e.g. +1500) or seconds (e.g. -0.5s).

What if the offset pushes cues before 00:00:00?

By default the shift is rejected and nothing is changed. You can opt in to revising the whole-file offset so the earliest cue starts exactly at zero — cues are never clamped one by one.

Does this change my video's audio sync?

No. It only rewrites the subtitle file's timestamps. It does not change audio/video synchronization inside a video file.

Are WebVTT karaoke timestamps shifted too?

Yes. Inline <hh:mm:ss.mmm> timestamps inside WebVTT cue text are shifted by the same offset.

Is the subtitle time shifter free?

Yes. Shift SRT and VTT subtitles online for free with no signup.
