Beat-synced editing · Cubix vs Canva

Cubix vs Canva Beat Sync. Choose your montage workflow.

Canva Beat Sync and Cubix Beat Edits both time photos and video to music. Canva offers manual beat markers and automatic Sync Now for Pro users. Cubix builds an editable first pass around detected hits or a steady BPM grid. Choose the workflow that fits your montage and the changes you want to make.

Both start from media you already have and a track. Cubix does not import Canva designs; start from the original photos, clips and music.

Illustrative brief · five photos, three clips and one music track

Five photos, three clips, one track

An illustrative brief: five photos, three short clips and a song. One portrait photo should hold longer than the rest, and one clip shows an action that must stay legible to the end. The diagram shows where each workflow asks you to decide.

  1. 1

    Choose media and a track

    Cubix

Add the photos and clips to Beat Edits; upload a track or choose a library track.

    Canva

Add videos and images to a video design; upload your own audio or search Canva’s music library.

  2. 2

    Time the sequence

    Cubix

Run Beat Edits: cuts follow detected hits by default, or a steady BPM grid.

    Canva

Display beat markers and snap clips to them by hand, which is free; or Sync Now, which is for Pro users.

  3. 3

    Inspect holds, crops and actions

Is the portrait on screen long enough? Does any photo lose a face to the crop? Does the action clip finish before the cut?

  4. 4

    Refine

    Cubix

Change Style, Energy, Motion or Length to rebuild, adjust individual cuts on the timeline, or Revert.

    Canva

Trim or crop clips and keep editing in Canva’s video editor.

Whichever you choose, the last check is the same: watch the whole montage with sound and confirm the portrait, the action and the ending land where you meant them to.

Which one fits your montage?

Try Cubix Beat Edits if…

  • You want the music timing done automatically as the first step, then rebuilt with Style, Energy or Length.
  • You want to switch between detected hits and a steady BPM grid.
  • You want to try it on your own photos and clips before choosing a plan.

Stay with Canva Beat Sync if…

  • The montage is part of a wider Canva design, template or brand project.
  • You prefer to place each clip on a beat marker yourself, which Canva documents as free.
  • You have Canva Pro and want Sync Now in the editor you already use.

Canva also works with uploaded music, photos, trimming and cropping. There is no project migration between the two; start from the original media.

Canva Beat Sync and Beat Edits: FAQs

Does Canva have Beat Sync?

Yes. Canva’s Beat Sync feature page describes syncing clips, footage and elements to the rhythm of music, including photos. This page compares how you build and revise a music-led montage in each product, not whether the feature exists.

Is Canva’s automatic beat sync free?

According to Canva’s FAQ, anyone can display beat markers on the waveform and snap clips to them by hand for free, and the Sync Now button that adjusts all clips automatically is for Pro users. Check your own Canva plan for current access.

Can I use photos and video clips in both?

Yes. Canva describes syncing videos and photos to music beats. Cubix Beat Edits accepts photos and video clips together; add at least two shots and a track.

Can I use my own music track?

Yes, in both. Canva lets you upload your own audio or search its music library. In Cubix, upload a track you are allowed to use or choose one from the built-in library.

Where do I refine the result?

In Canva, in its video editor, with trimming, cropping and its other editing tools. In Cubix, on the editable timeline: change Style, Energy, Motion or Length, adjust individual cuts, or Revert to the state before the pass. Current Cubix plans are on the pricing page.
