What is a video transition?
A video transition is the visual join between two adjacent clips. A cut is instantaneous. A fade, dissolve, wipe, or whip interpolates from the outgoing shot to the incoming one over a duration you choose. Cubix applies a transition to that join — it does not restyle the clips themselves.
The cut can disappear without the story disappearing.
Most joins should stay cuts. A dissolve can carry a change in time or place. A fade through black can mark a section. A whip can match a camera move. The job is choosing the join that the two shots can support.

How to add transitions between clips

Put two clips next to each other
A transition lives on the cut. Trim the outgoing and incoming shots so the join is already timed before you decorate it.

Choose the join
Leave it as a cut, or pick Fade, Dissolve, a wipe or slide, Whip, Blur Zoom, Spin, Push, or Glitch.

Set duration
Shorten a whip. Lengthen a dissolve if the pictures can hold it. Preview from before the cut, with audio on.

Match the rest of the edit
Use the same family of joins in a sequence. Mix a whip into a dialogue scene only if the camera already moves that way.

Video transition FAQs
Use a cut when the action or speech already connects the shots. Use a dissolve for a change in time, place, or mood. Use a fade through black for a section break. Use a whip or slide when the camera or subject already moves in that direction.
A dissolve blends the outgoing picture into the incoming one. A fade typically goes through black (or fades a single shot in or out). Dissolve keeps both images on screen during the join; fade lets the picture go dark in between.
A hard cut is two clips placed next to each other with no transition. It is Cubix’s default, and it is the right join for most dialogue and most A-roll.
Transitions are placed on a join. Apply the one you want between two clips, then repeat where another join needs the same family. There is no requirement to dress every cut.
Start short. Whips and flashes in Cubix default under half a second. Fades and dissolves default longer. If the outgoing image goes muddy before the incoming subject arrives, shorten it.
Picture transitions do not expose a separate audio-crossfade control. For audio overlaps and fades, use Audio Controls or Smooth Cut on the soundtrack.
