Turn selected podcast moments into an episode trailer.

Start with your recorded video episode and the timestamps of the moments you want. Assemble them in Cubix into an editable trailer with a hook, context and an ending that points to the full episode.

Choose the excerpts, assemble them on Cubix’s editable timeline and review every join before export.

A trailer plan, source timecode first

A plan for a fictional episode in which a founder explains how their team changed the way it prioritised customer requests. Each excerpt is a complete statement, and each has a job in the trailer.

Episode 41 · “Finish the job first” · 45:00 · fictional

  1. 02:10–02:18

    1 · Hook

“We stopped sorting customer requests by how urgent they sounded.”

A clear, surprising claim in one sentence. It opens the trailer without needing the question that came before it.

  2. 05:40–05:51

    2 · Context and stakes

“For two quarters, every urgent ticket jumped the queue, and the work customers actually needed to finish kept slipping.”

Says why the change mattered. Without it, the hook is just an opinion.

  3. 12:20–12:27

    3 · Intriguing next step

“What changed everything was one question we started asking about every request.”

Points to the answer without giving it away. The episode does answer it, so the promise is honest.

  4. Ending

    4 · Title card

Episode 41 · Finish the job first · Full conversation out now

Tells viewers what they just saw a part of and where the rest is. The trailer ends on the episode, not on a quote cut short.

Keep each statement whole. Do not join the end of one sentence to the start of another to make a claim the guest did not make.

Build the trailer and refine it

  1. 1

    Pick the excerpts

Watch the episode and note the start and end of each complete statement you want, plus a distinctive phrase from it. A quoted phrase still identifies the passage after the timeline changes.

  2. 2

    Open the recording in Cubix

On the app home, under Start from scratch, choose Edit with AI (Start editing) and upload the episode. The trailer button on this page opens the app home; it does not upload media or start a trailer for you.

  3. 3

    Assemble the excerpts

Ask Cubix to keep the ranges you named, in your order, or split, trim and reorder the clips on the timeline yourself. Both work on the same timeline. Check what was actually applied.

  4. 4

Add the ending and play it through

Add a closing card with the episode title and where to find it. Then watch the whole trailer with sound before you export.

Doing it by hand is a normal route too: split the recording at each range, delete what sits between, drag the excerpts into order and add the text card.

Build a trailer from episode-41-full.mp4 using only these ranges, in this order: 02:10–02:18 (starts “We stopped sorting customer requests”), 05:40–05:51 (starts “For two quarters”), 12:20–12:27 (starts “What changed everything”). Keep each statement complete and do not join sentences together. End with a title card: “Episode 41 · Finish the job first · Full conversation out now.” Leave everything else out.

An editing brief to adapt, not an executed result. Replace the file name, ranges and phrases with your own, then check on the timeline what was actually applied.

Review the trailer before export

Play it through with sound, then check each of these.

  • Every excerpt starts and ends on complete words, with its qualifications intact.
  • The context makes sense to someone who has not heard the episode.
  • Joins are clean, and the sound from each excerpt sits at a consistent level.
  • Framing and any captions you added are readable in the shape you will export.
  • The ending names the episode and points to the full conversation.

Background music is optional. Use only a track you have the rights to, and check its level against the speech yourself.

Podcast trailer FAQs

Does Cubix choose the trailer moments for me?

This page starts from moments you have chosen. Social Clips can suggest separate candidate clips from a long recording, but it makes individual clips; it does not assemble them into a trailer. Pick the excerpts yourself, then review each one in context.

How is a trailer different from a standalone highlight clip?

A trailer invites people to the longer conversation and ends by pointing to it. A standalone highlight has to deliver a complete idea on its own. Our guide to choosing between a trailer and a highlight clip walks through one example edited both ways.

What source video do I need?

The recorded video episode, or the part that contains your excerpts, with the sound you want to use and the rights to publish it. Note each excerpt’s start and end times in that file, and a short phrase from each one.

Can I change the trailer after it is assembled?

Yes. The excerpts sit on an editable timeline: split, trim, reorder or remove them yourself, or ask for a focused change. Play the whole trailer again after each change.

What access do I need to edit and export a trailer?

You can open Cubix and explore the editor before choosing a plan. Current plans, trial availability, export options and billing details are on the pricing page.
