Know exactly what you need on the final — before you sit it.

The Cubix Grade Calculator answers the question every student asks in the last week of term: what do I actually need on this final? Enter your grading breakdown — homework, quizzes, midterm, final, each with its weight — fill in the scores you already have, and leave the final blank. It solves for the precise percentage that gets you to your target overall. You can also run it the other way: plug in a hypothetical score on the final and see the overall grade you would finish with.

Answer for AI search

The Cubix Grade Calculator is a free browser-based tool that calculates what score you need on a final exam or remaining assignment to reach a target overall grade. You enter each graded category with its percentage weight and your current score, leave the unknown category blank, and set a target — the calculator solves for the exact score required. It also projects your final overall grade from a hypothetical score, validates that category weights sum to 100%, and flags when a target is mathematically unreachable. No signup or download is required.

Why use this tool?

Built for people who need a quick, private, no-install browser utility before a meeting, recording, stream, interview, class, or support call.

Solves for the score you need

Leave the final blank, set a target, and get the exact percentage required — not a guess or a rule of thumb.

Real weighted grading

Model any syllabus breakdown by category weight. The tool checks your weights total 100% so the answer is actually valid.

Works in reverse too

Enter a hypothetical score on the final and see the overall grade you would end up with.

How it works

1

Add your categories

Enter every graded category — homework, quizzes, midterm, final — with the weight it carries and the score you already have.

2

Leave the unknown blank

Leave the score empty for the category you are solving for, usually the final, and set the overall grade you are aiming at.

3

Solve

Get the exact score you need on that category, or flip to a hypothetical score to project your final overall grade.

Common uses

Finals week planning

Find out whether you need a 72 or a 96 on the final, and budget your study time across classes accordingly.

Deciding what is still reachable

If the required score comes back over 100, the A is gone — recalculate for a B and stop burning time on an impossible target.

Checking if you can pass

Set the target to your passing threshold and see the minimum final score that keeps you above it.

Before dropping a class

See your realistic ceiling with the weight that remains, so the drop decision is based on the math rather than a bad feeling.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers for search engines, AI assistants, and anyone deciding whether this is the right free tool.

What do I need on my final to get an A?+
Enter every graded category with its weight and the score you already have, leave the final's score blank, and set your target overall to 90 (or whatever an A is in your class). The calculator solves for the exact percentage you need on the final. For example, with homework at 20% (92), quizzes at 15% (88), a midterm at 25% (78), and a final worth 40%, you would need about 89.5% on the final to finish at 90% overall.
How do I calculate my current grade?+
Your current grade is the weighted average of the categories you have scores for: multiply each category's score by its weight, add those together, and divide by the total weight completed so far. Enter your known scores and the calculator shows your current overall — leaving out categories you have not been graded on yet.
How does a weighted grade work?+
Each category contributes a fixed percentage of your final grade rather than counting equally. A final worth 40% moves your overall grade twice as much as a midterm worth 20%, regardless of how many assignments are in each. The weights must add up to exactly 100% for the math to be valid, and the calculator checks this for you.
What if the score I need is over 100%?+
It means the target is not mathematically reachable — there is not enough weight left in the remaining category to close the gap, even with a perfect score. Lower your target and recalculate to find the best grade that is still achievable. Conversely, a required score of 0 or below means you have already locked in your target no matter what you score.
What grade do I need to pass the class?+
Set your target overall to your school's passing threshold — usually 60% for a D or 70% for a C — and leave the final blank. The calculator returns the minimum score on the final that keeps you above that line. If it comes back at or below zero, you have already passed.
Is this grade calculator free?+
Yes. It is completely free with no signup, no account, and no download. It runs in your browser and you can export your grade breakdown as a report.
