How to build a storyboard and shot list
- Name the board and fill in the first shot, or add several images at once to create a shot per image. A shot can stay image-free.
- For each shot, enter the action, dialogue or voiceover, duration in seconds and any framing or camera notes.
- Reorder with Move up / Move down (or drag), and check the same order in Shot list view. The total counts only the durations you entered.
- Create the storyboard PNG (long boards become numbered sheets), download the CSV shot list, or use Print / Save as PDF.
The CSV keeps your order, Unicode, quotes, commas and line breaks. Cells starting with =, +, - or @ get a leading apostrophe so spreadsheet apps don't run them as formulas; your board text is unchanged. Image filenames are included, but local folder paths and image data are not.
When you create the PNG, your notes and images are sent to Cubix's server to draw the sheets; the CSV sends only your text. They are used to create the downloads; this tool does not save a project.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make a storyboard and shot list?
Give the board a title, then add shots. For each shot, write the action, any dialogue or voiceover, a duration in seconds and optional framing or camera notes. Add your own reference image, or leave the shot image-free to plan before you shoot. Board and Shot list views show the same shots in the same order.
What can I download?
A storyboard PNG with numbered shots, images or placeholders, notes and durations, split into numbered sheets for long boards. You can also download a UTF-8 CSV shot list (Shot, Image filename, Action, Dialogue, Duration seconds, Camera notes), or print the board and save it as PDF from your browser.
How is the total duration calculated?
It adds the durations you entered. Shots without a duration are listed and left out, and invalid values must be corrected; nothing is guessed. Treat the total as a planning estimate.
What are the limits?
Up to 24 shots. Images can be PNG or JPG up to 10 MB and 20 megapixels each, and 40 MB in total. Action and dialogue are limited to 1,000 characters each and camera notes to 500.
Is my board saved or uploaded?
The board lives on this page only and is not saved; reloading or leaving the page loses it, so download what you need. When you create the PNG, your notes and images are sent to Cubix's server to draw the sheets. The CSV sends only your text. They are used to create the downloads; this tool does not save a project.
Does it generate images, scripts or video?
No. You supply the images and write the plan. To use stills from an existing video, save them first with the Video Frame Extractor, then add them here.
